Scott McMickin

Mr. McMickin has been in education for more than 20 years.  He has taught in Tuscaloosa County, Madison County, and Huntsville City School Systems. He first came to Sparkman High School in 2003, where he taught Marine Biology and coached varsity football. He left Sparkman in 2008 and went to Huntsville High School for 3 ½ years. He returned to Sparkman Nine in January 2012 to teach Pre-AP Biology.  

After receiving his administration degree in 2013, Mr. McMickin moved to the MCSS Central Office for one year and has been an Assistant Principal after returning to Sparkman HS. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Alabama, where he served as a football manager for the Crimson Tide.  He received a Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Samford University. His wife, Debbie, teaches English and they live in the Harvest/Monrovia area.

Philosophy:  I believe that school is not the end, it is only the start of being a lifelong learner.  Our job is to make sure that students are prepared for that process, regardless of where that takes them when their high school days are over.
